TERMS OF PURCHASE & LICENSING
Last Updated: OCTOBER, 2026
Welcome to Ten Minutes in the Bible, a collection of original plays by J.S. Jacklin.
These Terms of Purchase & Licensing apply to purchases of digital scripts, script collections and performance licences made through this website.
By purchasing a digital script, collection or performance licence, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms.
1. THE WORKS
The Ten Minutes in the Bible series consists of original dramatic works written by J.S. Jacklin, including individual plays and collections made available through this website.
All scripts, text, characters, titles, original reflections, production materials and related content are protected by copyright.
All rights not expressly granted to you remain with J.S. Jacklin.
2. DIGITAL SCRIPT PURCHASES
A digital script purchase gives you access to the purchased script for your personal, organizational or production-planning use, subject to these Terms.
A purchased digital script is not automatically a performance licence.
Unless a performance licence has been specifically purchased or granted in writing, purchasing or downloading a script does not give permission to publicly perform the play.
3. INDIVIDUAL SCRIPT PURCHASE
An individual script purchase provides the purchaser with the complete digital script identified at the time of purchase.
The purchaser may:
- Download and retain the purchased copy
- Read and evaluate the play
- Use the script for rehearsal or production planning after obtaining the applicable performance rights
The purchaser may not:
- Sell the script
- Give the script to another organization
- Upload the script to a public website
- Post the script on social media
- Distribute the PDF through email or file-sharing services
- Make the script available through a shared drive or public library
- Remove the author’s name or copyright information
- Create an unauthorized derivative version
- Reproduce or distribute the script beyond what is permitted by law or these Terms
4. THE FIVE-PLAY COLLECTION
Purchase of the Ten Minutes in the Bible — Complete Five-Play Collection provides access to the five scripts included in the collection.
The collection may be used by the purchaser for reading, evaluation and production planning.
The collection does not, by itself, authorize public performance unless a performance licence is included in the purchase.
One collection purchase does not grant permission for multiple unrelated organizations, churches, theatre groups or production companies to use the scripts.
5. PERFORMANCE RIGHTS
Public performance of a Ten Minutes in the Bible play requires permission from the copyright holder unless the applicable purchase expressly includes performance rights.
A performance licence identifies:
- The play or plays covered
- The licensed organization
- The authorized production
- The permitted venue or venues, where applicable
- The permitted number of performances or production run
- Any other conditions applying to the licence
Performance rights are granted only for the scope stated in the applicable licence.
6. FIVE-PLAY PERFORMANCE PACKAGE
Where a purchaser buys the Five-Play Performance Package, the licence applies only to the five plays and the production/event described in the applicable purchase.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the package is intended for one five-play event or production run.
Additional performances, venues, tours, repeat productions or substantially different uses may require an additional licence.
If you are uncertain whether your planned use is covered, please contact us before the performance.
7. RECORDING, STREAMING AND BROADCAST
A performance licence does not automatically grant permission to:
- Record a performance
- Livestream a performance
- Broadcast a performance
- Sell or distribute a recording
- Upload a performance to YouTube, Facebook or another online platform
- Create an audio or video adaptation
Separate written permission may be required for these uses.
Please contact us before recording or distributing any performance.
8. ADAPTATIONS AND CHANGES
The scripts are intended to allow directors reasonable freedom in staging, casting, costumes and set design.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, purchasers may not substantially alter:
- Dialogue
- Characters
- Story
- Ending
- Title
- Setting
- Authorship
Minor performance adjustments that do not materially alter the work may be made where appropriate for staging, but substantial adaptations require written permission.
If you would like to adapt a play for a particular group, setting, cast or event, please contact us.
9. CASTING, COSTUMES AND STAGING
Directors are encouraged to interpret the plays creatively.
Unless a script specifically states otherwise:
- Costumes may be contemporary or inspired by the biblical period.
- Simple or imaginative staging is encouraged.
- Minimal sets and props may be used.
- Directors may make reasonable staging choices appropriate to their venue.
Creative staging choices do not transfer copyright ownership of the underlying script.
10. COPYRIGHT AND AUTHORSHIP
All rights in the plays remain with J.S. Jacklin unless expressly transferred in writing.
The author’s name and copyright information must remain with the script.
The plays may not be presented as the work of another writer, organization or production company.
11. COPYING AND DISTRIBUTION
A purchased digital script is licensed to the purchaser and is not a public-domain document.
Please do not:
- Upload it to a website
- Post it to a group page
- Share it through a public drive
- Sell or redistribute it
- Provide copies to unrelated organizations
- Use one purchase as a substitute for purchasing or licensing additional copies where required
If additional copies or access are needed for a cast, director, stage manager or production team, please contact us for permission or a production-copy arrangement.
12. PRICES
Prices are displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated.
Prices may change from time to time.
The price charged for an order will be the price displayed at the time the order is completed.
13. DIGITAL DELIVERY
Digital products will be delivered using the method described at checkout, which may include a download link or email delivery.
Please ensure that the email address supplied at checkout is accurate.
If you experience a problem downloading or accessing a purchased file, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to help resolve the problem.
14. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
Because digital scripts are delivered electronically, please review the description and free preview before purchasing whenever possible.
Except where a refund, cancellation or other remedy is required by applicable law, digital script purchases are generally final once the digital product has been delivered or made available for download.
If you receive an incorrect file, a materially defective file or experience a technical problem that prevents reasonable access to your purchase, please contact us.
We will make reasonable efforts to correct the problem or provide an appropriate remedy.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer-protection legislation.
15. LICENCE FEES ARE NOT COPYRIGHT TRANSFERS
Payment of a performance licence does not transfer ownership of the play or its copyright to the purchaser.
The license gives permission for the specific use described in the license.
All other rights remain with J.S. Jacklin.
16. BREACH OF LICENCE
If a purchaser uses a script outside the rights granted by the applicable licence, J.S. Jacklin may request that the unauthorized use stop and may pursue any remedies available under applicable law.
Where appropriate, we may offer the purchaser an opportunity to obtain the additional rights required for the intended use.
17. DISCLAIMER
The plays are works of dramatic fiction inspired by biblical stories and passages.
They are intended for theatrical and entertainment purposes.
They are not intended to provide theological, legal, financial, medical or other professional advice.
The interpretation of biblical material is the artistic expression of the playwright.
18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by applicable law, J.S. Jacklin will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from the use of the website or purchased materials.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by law.
19. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time.
The current version will be posted on this website with the revised “Last Updated” date.
Changes will apply to purchases and licences made after the updated Terms take effect, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
20. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the applicable laws of Canada.
Any dispute will be subject to the applicable courts and laws having jurisdiction in Ontario, subject to any mandatory rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable law.
